Eighteen Candles Birthday

Hey there, hope all is well with you.
Today I'm sharing a card I made for my youngest nephew who has turned 18.
Supplies Used:
White and Navy card stocks
Sheet music printed out on gold parchment
Stencils and Versamark and Distress inks
White embossing powder
The Paper Shelter digis The Saxophonist and A Curious Cake
Marquis scrapbook sticker with alpha stamping
Hero Arts and Quickutz stamps and Versafine Clair ink
Promarkers, gel pens and glitter paint pens for coloring
The saxophonist digi is pre-colored, but I did color ON it with a blue Promarker (the jeans, hat and glasses). I colored the cake and the marquis completely with Promarkers. I wore my eye patch and also my special glasses with magnifying lens and a light. I looked absolutely ridiculous but it really helped!

I chose this Splitcoaststampers sketch for my layout design, resizing to A9 size.
Here are the stencils I used: a 7x7 Crafters Companion Sheena Graphic Equalizer stencil (stenciled with Salty Ocean Distress ink) and a really old red fireworks stencil from Oriental Trading (stenciled with Versamark ink and white-embossed).
And a little doodling with the glitter paint pens (midnight blue and gold).
After stenciling and heat-embossing, I stippled some Tumbled Glass Distress inks all over the sheet music and on the edges. I doodled on the big fireworks and then doodled little ones here and there. I also scribbled along the edge of the sheet with the glitter paint pen. After adhering the candle border along the left edge, I coated the flames gold with glitter paint pen.
Inside, a computer-generated sentiment I composed in PSE.
At this angle, the glittery shine of the fireworks really shows.
Close-up of the Versamark-stenciled, white heat-embossed fireworks doodled on with glitter paint pens.
Close-up of the cake digi, colored with Promarkers, gel pens and glitter paint pens.
Close-up of the candle border, made with a border punch, white card stock, and a Hero Arts sentiment stamped with Versafine Clair ink.
And a final view of the back with the front.

And it's time again to share some food for Rain's Art & Dinner Date!
We had some yummy Easy No-Bake Southern Banana Pudding for our desserts this past week.

Well, that's all from me for now. Thanks for hanging in with this photo-laden post and for your visit. Good weekend wishes for all, XOX

  2. Yummy! A banana pudding! I'm there! giggle... The last of the "children" in the family now grown into adulthood! That's always a milestone, and so is your fun card! I love what you accomplished with the stencils, Aimes. I would never have thought of covering music with patterns like that! I'm going to try it! You always have so much thought involved in your masterpieces! So happy I got to see your creation at Jan’s Digi Stamp Challenges . Thanks for the inspiration, and I hope to see more of your designs soon.

  3. Great card and I'm certain your nephew was delighted with it. I especially love the coloring and stencil work. Now, that Banana Puddin' really brings back memories of my childhood. This was the dessert my mother made for every church potluck, family get-together and one of my all time fvorites! Thanks for linking up at The Jan's Digi Stamps Challenge.

  8. What a fun card for your nephew Aimeslee. I like the fireworks and the way they line up with sax. Thanks for joining us at TIOT. And your banana pudding looks yummy. I can't say I've ever had it; it's not a big choice up here in the north. Why, I don't know since bananas are found all over the country. Happy new week to you. hugs-Erika
